 Duane Michals

Duane is a American Photographer born February  18, 1932. Duane interest in art began at the age of 14, he attend Watercolour university classes at Carnegie Institute in Pittsburgh.

He spent two years in the army in 1956 he went on to study at the Parsons School of design with plan to become a graphic designer. He did not complete his studies. Michals describes his photographic skills "completly self - taught" Michals was a commercial photographer working for his Esquire and Mademoiselle also covered the filming of the "The great gatsby" for Vogue. Michals didn't have a studio, He took portraits of people in their enviroments.

Duane wasn't involved in gay civil rights, his photography addressed gay themes.

I really like the way Duane Michals has used double exposure in his art work.
