This is my final project I have created with a mix of crossfades, overlapping and various shots. Everything that I had experimented with I use some bits to try and create my moving image. Mainly mid and close ups of paddling. I use a few low angles to get a close up of the paddle. I thought that my project worked well together with the music and the shots. One thing I would of probably changed was gather more footage for this advertisement to give the audience a more in depth insight of the sport of out-rigging. I used the theme song rebel sport uses just to give the audience a sense of what my ads for. Hopefully that gives them a hint about what it is. I really just wanted to create a sports promotional advertisement that my footage would suit. The hardest part for this would probably be trying to gather the information and artist to help develop my idea further. I did turn to look at directors of commercials to help me seek inspiration and ideas.

Music/Sound
Zed- Renegade Fighter
This is the theme song used in a rebel sports ad. Though of using this in my work just to hint to the audience that it's a rebel sports promotion ad.
Director/Artist Research - Mark Albiston
Mark Albiston was born 19th March 1972 he is a New Zealand film, television and advertising director. Graduate from Canterbury University in Christchurch 1992 with a degree in Fine Arts.
In 2000, Albiston started the production company called Sticky Pictures. The company created/produced award-winning content across a wide rang of genres that included commercials. Albiston is also known for his work as a writer, editor, cinematographer and director.
In 2007, Mark received recognition in the short film Section at the Cannes Film Festival for his short film called Run. He collaborated with writer/actor Louis Sutherland and the film won various prizes of other festivals.
Mark Albiston focuses on the characters and emotion, stripping away pretence to create an authentic and raw performances to create life.
Albiston has done various projects and documented a couple of series.
This was an ad created/directed by Mark Albiston. Looking at the power of team work/team mates and courage. Uses a cutting transitions of the different team events that take place. The dull lighting works well with the story that the director is trying to show.

Experimentation
This is an experimentation with overlapping and also an exercise to help me put a logo at the end for my advertisement. I used panning in one of the layers where I showed the scenery of where I paddled with my team and another layer of where we ended up paddling to. I really like the different layers put together.
Rebel Sports
I officially came to a decision to create an sports ad to promote Rebel Sports clothing. Rebel Sport is a large sport equipment based in New Zealand. The store was born out of a franchise agreement between Briscoe Group Rebel Sport Australia in 1995. There are a chain of stores in New Zealand.
The store is known nationwide and are successfully known for promoting young new Zealand athletes. I thought that because out-rigging isn't promoted as much why not make an Ad based on promoting rebel sport clothing. This idea came to mind because I like to shop for sport clothing. Especially shop for clothing or equipment that would be able to increase my performance in canoeing.
I officially don't own this company obviously, but just using this to finish my ad. I won't upload any of this online. I just used the rebel logo for my moving image purposes.

This was an advertisement directed by Dennis Hitchcock which was produced by Scott Donaldson. What i like about this is that the Powerade drink is always referred back to the ad. We see in some product ads sometimes don't make sense. Powerade drink is made for sport and supports sport. So Hitchcock has used rugby as one of the sports. We also see a fast quick pace ad also we see a lot of action in this moving image. I really like the use of extreme close-ups in this ad. The first part we see an extreme close-up of the players face which gives the audience a sense of Determination the player has in his eyes. This seeks the attention of the audience and athletes to believe that this product will really help them with their sport performance.
Another commercial made by Dennis Hitchcock
Experimentation with music and transitions.
This was an experimentation that i was working with. I used a variety of angles with this experimentation.
I like the use of
- close up angles
- low angles
- underwater angles
- panning shots
I think what needs to be worked on is the music. Maybe choose different type of music for my
advertisement to grab the audiences attention. I like the sense of journey that this footage gives on how canoeing begins. I need to cut this maybe a bit shorter. Usually ads are less than a minute and just give a quick glimpse of what the sport is. I think that is what needs to be worked on. So i'll have to cut to the point in this advertisement and give a quick glimpse of what I want the audience to see in my final.
